Hi folks, this thread is to discuss changes, upgrades, additions to users and viewers of this board.

Currently, the settings allow browsing the forum topics by anyone, but only members can post.

I'm open to suggestions about who can be a member, I'm in favor of anyone registering, as long as the topics they post are related to BP. Let me know what your thoughts are about restricting membership.
If someone joins, and then only posts in the off topic section, we can review their membership.

The rules at the top of each forum can be easily modified, the terms of use that someone has to agree to needs a re-write as well, Darfstellar has volunteered to do a rewrite, and we can review it and make changes if we have to.

Reviewing our current TOU (on the harbor website) would be a good start.

Currently the avatar and signature features are set to off, on some boards they get out of hand, with sigs and moving avatars overpowering the post itself, and I would like to maintain an uncluttered overall appearance to the board.
But that's just me... Let me know how you feel.

Anyone can start a poll, if you have a topic you'd like to bring up, post a poll.

agree on the avatar being off. It is way to easy for people to put up inapropriate pics and not be caught quickly. Also for me to much is way to much of a distraction and it ends up being a huge turn off. What kind of terms of use do you mean? I know the usual no profanity/respect other posters/ no spaming/ no harassing. that stuff? or more like simmilar to the chat terms? no unmedicated etc?

I looked for a spelling nazi robot, but could not find an add-on..but here's a tip, if you use mozilla firefox as your browser, it has a built in spellcheck feature...it underlines your misspelled words in red, as you type them, just like MS word....

The terms of use ,(TOU) is a statement that you agree to when you join, and is basically a set of rules and disclaimers that will keep you and I from getting in trouble if someone hurts themselves by following advice they read here.

Secondly it gives us a way to make sure that someone agrees to follow our rules, and agrees to not hold us responsible for anything they read and act on here.

The TOU is what you are SUPPOSED to read, and it won't let you join until you agree to whatever is written in them.

The Harbor-of-Refuge.org website has a TOU, and a set of guidelines. We can probably swipe them and adapt them here. Last time I saw darf he said he was going to do some work on that.
